Dodge Hot Rod with a 1,300 HP Cummins I6
Premier Performance Products built this project to showcase the variety of products offered by their vendors. They call the project “Six Pack” due to the inline-six diesel engine and six nitrous bottles sitting in the bed.
The project started with a 1994 Dodge Ram 2WD diesel that was stripped down to the frame. The back half of the frame was cut out so a custom one could be fabricated. On top of the frame went a 1940’s Dodge 1 1/2 ton truck cab. To get the truck to sit as low as possible an air bag suspension system was installed.
The engine is a 5.9 L 12v Cummins inline-six diesel race engine built by Industrial Injection. The engine was upgraded with a 1100 cc P7100 Dragon Flow pump and five .028 duel feed injectors. The team then installed an ATS 5000 and 8000 compound turbocharging kit and a nitrous system with six bottles.
On the first dyno run with a simple tune the engine produced 1,100 horsepower. The team will continue to work on the turn and boost settings with a goal of around 1,300+ horsepower and 3,000 lb-ft of torque on fuel only and 1,500+ on nitrous.
The rest of the drivetrain consists of a BD Performance 47RH-RE Track Master automatic transmission with a Triple TorqueForce converter. The rear end was built by American Axle and upgraded with Yukon lockers and axles.
