1966 Corvair with a mid-engine 427ci V8

John Black and his son Cory Black built a 1966 Chevrolet Corvair called “CorVin8er” for autocross racing. It is powered by a 427 ci (7.0 L) Chevy V8 producing 550 hp (404 kW). The small-block motor features a Dart SHP block (4.125-inch bore) with SCAT forged crankshaft (4.00-inch stroke), Eagle H-beam rods, Mahle forged pistons, Melling oil pump, and Schoenfeld 1.75-inch circle track headers. On top are Patriot Performance aluminum heads, Howards hydraulic roller camshaft, and Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold. The drivetrain uses a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission built by Abruzzi Racing connects to a C5 Corvette Z06 differential carrier with a limited-slip differential and 3.42 ratio. Braking is handled by Wilwood Dynalite four-piston calipers with C6 Corvette 12.9-inch rotors in front and Dynalite four-piston calipers with Cadillac 10.5-inch in back.
