HST International Electric Mustang
HST International teamed up with Tjaarda Design to produce a Mustang that runs on pure electricity. The cars use a custom built DC Electric Motor System producing roughly 300 HP and 1000 ft/lbs of torque. One of the great benefits of electric motors is their torque which usually is ready at 0 rpm. The massive torque allows the car to do 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds.
The battery system is made by K2 Energy Solutions and uses lithium iron phosphate batteries. To keep a great weight balance the batteries are distributed in the front and back. Current range for the base model is 110 Miles but can be upgraded to allow for a 200 mile range. The car comes with a racing/economy dual mode.
Charging the batteries takes roughly 3.5 hours with 220 volt connection or 8 hours using 110v. The great thing is this car can be charged using a regular wall plug. The 220 volt connection would be optimal but it will still do it on a wall plug which mean you can charge this thing anywhere.
HST also produced an all electric Shelby Cobra that will do 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and has a faster top speed. Check out both galleries in the AutoBlog Green sections.
