HPE’s Lotus Elise with a Honda K20
HPE Special Vehicles set out to build the ultimate Lotus Elise Series 1 track car with their R500 model. In the back of the sports car is a naturally asprirated 2.1 L Honda K20 inline-four producing 330 hp (242 kW) and 205 lb-ft (277 Nm) of torque. Beside the motor is a six-speed manual dogbox with straight-cut gears and limited-slip differential. The car rides on a rose-jointed suspension with adjustable roll bars, 3-way adjustable coilovers with remote reservoirs, and carbon/carbon disc brakes. HPE Special Vehicles focused on reducing weight with a carbon fiber body and lightweight forged wheels. The result is an Elise tipping the scales at 620 kg (1366 lb) wet. The interior is built for track use so you only find Tillett carbon fiber seats with TRS harnesses. HPE offers two other Elise variants (R300, R400) that are more street-focused.
