Joe Bristow built and owns an AWD VW Golf called “Golvo” for drag racing. The unique Golf is powered by a turbocharged 2.3 L inline-five from a Volvo 850 T5R capable of 1000 hp on E85 fuel. Joe built the motor with a sleeved block, Pauter forged rods, and Wiseco forged pistons. On top is a ported head with high-lift camshafts, beehive valve springs, and custom intake and exhaust manifolds. Boost is generated by a Xona XR10569s turbocharger. Golvo’s drivetrain features a Sachs triple-plate clutch, Quaife QKE45Z sequential transmission, Audi S3 Gen 1 Haldex, and Quaife rear differential. The video below shows Joe’s best quarter-mile runs with the best being a 8.82 sec at 162 mph.
