1987 Sunny Truck with a Nissan Electric Motor
Tommy Pike Customs (TPC) built this 1987 Nissan Sunny Truck at their company in Greenville, South Carolina. Tommy Pike and his team swapped the factory inline-four for a Nissan EM57 electric motor and 40 kWh battery pack from a Nissan LEAF. The electric motor offers 147 hp (109 kW) and 236 lb-ft (319 Nm) of torque. Behind that is a custom transmission adapter, factory 56A four-speed manual transmission, custom driveshaft, and factory rear end. TPC upgraded handling with a Nissan 240SX (S13) front suspension and disc brakes. The rear suspension received heavy-duty leaf springs. On the outside they installed a “Hakosuka” Skyline widebody kit and custom Brock Racing Enterprises (BRE) “46” livery. Under the arches are Rotiform 17-inch wheels with Toyo Extensa 205/45 tires.
