1970 Oldsmobile 442 with a 538 ci Big-Block
Michael Grubbs and his company Grubbs Collision and Motorsports spent 2000+ hours building this 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 at their company in Garland, Texas. In the engine bay is a 538 ci (8.8L) Oldsmobile big-block V8 built by Self Racing. It features a Rocket Racing block, billet crank, Oliver forged rods, custom JE pistons, and custom ground Bullet hydraulic roller camshaft. On top are Rocket Racing heads, custom intake manifold, and NX fogger nitrous system. The combo is good for 740 hp (544 kW) or 940 hp (691 kW) with nitrous. The drivetrain starts with a TH400 automatic transmission and Hughes Performance converter. Behind that is a Gear Vendors overdrive and Moser 12-bolt rear end with 3.73 ratio and 33-spline axles. The car rides on a UMI Performance suspension with Viking coilovers and Wilwood disc brakes behind Billet Specialties double beadlock (17×7, 15×10).
