Carbon Fiber Mercedes Wagon with a 800 hp Turbodiesel Inline-Six
Black Smoke Racing built a unique Mercedes S123 at their company in Kokkola, Finland. The team was inspired by their 1981 Mercedes 300TD built 10 years ago.
In the engine bay they installed a turbocharged 3.2 L Mercedes OM613/OM648 diesel inline-six. The motor features forged internals, Peterson dry sump with Autoverdi oil pump, Turbosmart TS1 7880 turbocharger, Botnia Product custom stainless steel exhaust manifold, and FMIC.eu custom modified intercooler.
The motor is fed plenty of diesel from a Nuke tank by two Bosch 400 CDI high pressure pumps. The turbodiesel inline-six produces 800 hp (596 kW) and 900 Nm (663 lb-ft) of torque of 4 bar (58 psi) of boost. Behind the motor is a DMA Racing Gears five-speed sequential transmission and a Bulldog quick-change rear end.
Black Smoke Racing modified the wagon’s suspension with Toyota Supra front and rear subframes. They upgraded those with Wisefab full lock kit and controls arms and custom BC Racing coilovers. Braking is handled by a Supra big brake kit from Advanced Performance Parts.
The wagon is surrounded by a custom carbon fiber body designed by Yelkenci Design. Over that is a custom livery by Perttu Papunen. The wide arches cover a set of 59 North Wheels 007 racing rims (19×9, 19×11).
Black Smoke Racing documented the project’s progress in their build series. Or watch the overview video below with the wagon drifting.
