Ford Supervan
Terry Drury Racing built the Ford Supervan in 3-4 months for Ford of Britain Truck Sales in 1971. Terry used a Ford Transit Mk1 body over a widened Cooper Monaco tubular chassis. It featured a fully independent suspension with GT40 disc brakes and 15-inch wheels. In the middle of the van is a naturally aspirated 4.7 L Ford V8 from a GT40. It produced 400-435 hp (298-319 kW) and went through a ZF five-speed manual transaxle. The Ford powertrain propelled the van to 150 mph (240 km/h) top speed.
Terry eventually stripped Supervan and removed the powertrain. In 1973 the van was sold to Ford apprentice Andy Browne. He enjoyed the van but eventually sold it in the late-70’s. Over the years it changed hands several times. When Andy tracked the van down, all that was left was a floor pan and some of the firewall. Andy then spent countless hours lovingly restoring the iconic vehicle. Read more about Andy’s involvement with the Supervan at Ford media.
