1971 Datsun 1200 with a 700+ hp SR20

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Matthew Orside’s unique 1971 Datsun 1200 called “ITLFLI” was built by Southern Rod & Custom in Shepparton, VIC, Australia and Advanced Motor Mechanics in Strathfield South, NSW, Australia. The small ute is powered by a turbocharged 2.2 L SR20 inline-four built by Michael Kalaitzakis at Quickbitz. The motor features a sleeved factory block with 88 mm bore, billet girdle, and billet 91 mm crankshaft. On top sits a Mazworx ported SR20VE head with custom Kelford camshafts. On the sides are a Plazmaman intake manifol and 6Boost exhaust manifold with a Precision 6466 turbocharger. Quickbitz tuned the motor on a Motec M150 ECU and it easily produced 566 kW (759 hp) at the hubs on E85 fuel. Behind the motor is a twin-plate clutch, Nissan Skyline manual transmission, and fabricated 9-inch rear end.
