2002 Tacoma SR5 with a 5.3 L LSx V8

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Tom’s Turbo Garage built this 2002 Toyota Tacoma SR5 XtraCab called “Project Firebolt” in 2020. The truck was sold and the current owner is selling it on Bring a Trailer. The truck is powered by a 5.3 L Vortec V8 featuring Brian Tooley Racing pushrods, Pro LS Turbo camshaft, LS6 intake manifold, Canton Road Race oil pan, and custom exhaust headers. Fuel is fed through Trick Flow Specialties TFX injectors by a Walbro in-tank pump controlled and Aeromotive X1 pressure regulator. The drivetrain starts with a 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission and FTI Performance Street Racer Lock-Up Series billet torque converter. From there a Driveshaft Shop carbon fiber driveshaft turns a Ford 8.8-inch rear end with a Trac-Lok differential and 3.73 ratio. The truck rides on QA1 coilovers in front, Bilstein shocks and lowering leaf springs in back.
