RWD Toyota Aygo Crazy
The Toyota Aygo debuted in 2005 as a small city car with a 1.0 L 1KR-FE inline-three and FWD drivetrain. In 2008 Toyota UK built a RWD mid-engine concept called the Aygo Crazy.
In the back of the car they installed a 1.8 L 1ZZ-FE VVT-i inline-four producing 200 hp and 240 Nm of torque thanks to a Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) turbocharger kit. Beside that is a five-speed manual transmission from a MR2 Roadster with an upgraded Helix clutch.
The 1050 kg (2314 lb) concept rides on MR2 Roadster suspension with MacPherson struts front and rear. It also uses Tein adjustable dampers. Braking is handled by Brembo four-piston calipers with 328 mm ventilated rotors in front and two-piston calipers with 280 mm ventilated rotors in back.
On the outside Toyota designed and built a custom widebody to cover the 17×7.5-inch wheels with Goodyear 225/45 tires. On the back is a carbon fiber wing from American Champ Car race car.
O’Rourke Coachtrimmers & Supplies completed the interior. It features two-tone seats with four-point harnesses behind a Sparco steering wheel. Occupants are protected by a roll cage.
