Trabant 601 with a Turbo Suzuki Inline-Three
Grzesiek Gliński spent the past three years rebuilding his 1965 Trabant 601 in his garage in Kraków, Poland. The factory motor is gone and replaced with an all-aluminum 1.0 L G10A inline-three from a 1995 Suzuki Swift. The engine features Swift GTI connecting rods, modified intake manifold, custom exhaust manifold, Garrett GT1549 turbocharger from an Opel, and ECUMaster DET3. Grzesiek even converted the head from single-point to multi-point fuel injection using parts from a Suzuki Alto. The changes should increase output from the factory rated 54 horsepower (41 kW) and 58 lb-ft (79 Nm) of torque. The car also uses a Skoda 105 radiator, Fiat Siena steering rack, Suzuki Swift steering column, VW Golf Mk1 disc brakes in front, and VW Golf Mk2/Mk3 disc brakes in back. You can view more photos of the project on Grzesiek’s website where he documented the entire build.
