ICON’s 1946 Oldsmobile Derelict with a Big-block V8
ICON finished their newest Derelict project involving a 1946 Oldsmobile Series 70 coupe and to celebrate Jonathan Ward made a video sharing all the effort and work that went into creating it.
The coupe was found by one of Jonathan’s many car hunters in Northeast California. The client is a talented engineer and had many ideas that were incorporated into the build. The overall theme of the car was taken from a prohibition rum-runner vehicle.
The project started with a chassis by Art Morrison. This gave the car a fully-independent suspension front and four-link rear with adjustable coilovers all around.
Powering the coupe if a 502 ci big-block Chevy V8 built by the owner. It has a unmistakable Hilborn fuel injection system that helps produce 528 horsepower and 607 lb-ft of torque.
Behind the engine sits a 4L85E four-speed automatic transmission and ARB Air Locker differential.
