Toyota GT86 with a Ferrari V8
Some of the most interesting engine swap projects come from professional and amateur drifting. Part of the reason is the limited rules and the other is the desire to stand out. Formula Drift driver Ryan Tuerck’s new race car will raise the bar for being different. Ryan sent a Toyota GT86 to Huddy Motorsports in San Diego, California to stuff a 4.5 L F136 FB V8 from a Ferrari 458 Italia into it. The direct injection, dry sump engine produces 562 horsepower (419 kW) from the factory. A fan asked Gumout (official sponsor) on FB if they had to purchase a Ferrari 458 in order to get the engine. Gumout responded with only a “like”. If you are wondering how the team will solve the rear-facing intake don’t worry. Ryan said they have a creative solution for it.
