Project X Receives a Blown LSX376
Tony and Lucky are back and this time they get to put their hands on the hot rodding icon called Project X. It was the oldest project vehicle for Popular Hot Rodding and currently is the oldest at Hot Rod. Project X started when Popular Hot Rodding purchased a 1957 Chevy 210 in 1965 and used it to test everything they got their hands on.
GM took the car in 2009 for a body-off restoration which debuted at SEMA 2009. The car sits on a factory 57 frame with C5 Corvette front suspension and 1972 Chevelle rear suspension. They added disc brakes on every corner to help compensate for the all-aluminum ZL1 427 big-block they installed.
In this episode the guys plan on removing the ZL1 and installing a 6.2L LSX376 with a Weiland 6-71 supercharger and two Holley carburetors. The LSX376-B15 is an iron-block V8 built for forced induction with forged internals and six bolt heads to handle up to 15 psi of boost. See what the guys had to do to get the new engine in.
