Lexus IS300 with a Twin-turbo LSx Update
When we last wrote about Dedicated Motorsports’ 2002 Lexus IS300 the 5.3 L LC9 was producing 700 horsepower on 11 psi of boost thanks to a pair of Precision 6266 turbochargers. Since then the car and boost has continued to progress. To get ready for TX2K16 the team installed a new 5.3 L aluminum LSx (I would assume another LC9) after spotting a crack in the block. On the dyno the engine produced 1,138 horsepower on 25 psi of boost from two Xona Rotor 95-67 turbochargers and controlled by a Motec M150. The team was going to turn it up to 30 psi which would make an estimated 1,300 horsepower but ran into a problem. In the video below the car sets a personal best of 8.76 at 167 mph while rowing the gears on a TR6060 six-speed transmission.
This video was put together by Dedicated Motorsports and talks about how the project was born along with build and race footage.
If you are interested in building your own LSx powered Lexus IS300 than you are in luck. Dedicated Motorsports sells mounts for $750 and a kit for $2,000.
