Smart Fortwo with a Jet Engine

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Mike West of Wild West Entertainment enjoys building vehicles with jet engines. Currently he has a jet powered recliner, golf cart, and Smart Fortwo. Bangshift claims the Smart car is powered by a Lycoming T53 turboshaft engine sourced from a Bell UH-1 helicopter. The Lycoming T53 came in several models ranging from 860-1,800 horsepower and Mike says this particular engine produces 1,500 horsepower. The engine sits inside the cabin right next to the driver where the passenger’s seat used to be. The Smart car still retains the factory engine and transmission which allows the car to be easily driven around during events.

It might be the most powerful but it sure can’t be called the fastest. It certainly can’t compete with Mark Cryer’s Nu Big Thing.
