Building a Custom 1932 Ford with a Twin-turbo Ferrari V8

Published in engineswapdepot.com

The ’32 Ford is a popular starting point for many hot rod and custom builds because of its timeless design. Alan Lee is planning on setting his three-door coupe apart from everything else that has come before it.

Alan started with a fiberglass 1932 Ford three-window body. Then with help from Rich Evans took a 1929 Model A frame which was boxed and had custom motor and body mounts installed. On that frame goes a front and rear independent suspension.

Powering this little coupe is a 3.0 L Ferrari V8 which appears to be a Tipo F105L from a Lancia Thema 8.32. This engine is very similar to the one used in the Ferrari 308 and Ferrari Quattrovalvole but it features a cross-plane crank, smaller valves and a different firing order. The V8 will have its power boosted further thanks to twin Turbonetics turbochargers.

The project still has a lot of work left and Alan estimates the car will run under its own power around July 2016.
