For Sale: 1970 Toyota Crown with a 2JZ-GE
Roadtrip Motorcars in Brownsville, Kentucky specializes in importing rare vehicles from Japan. They recently imported a 1970 Toyota Crown MS51 from Japan last year and found out the original engine was in really poor shape. Instead of selling it as a non-driving car they decided to swap the engine for something a little bit newer.
Under the hood sits a 3.0 L 2JZ-GE fitted with three Weber DCOE 45s carburetors. Even if the carbs are not properly tuned (as the seller claims) the engine does sound pretty nice in the video below. Shifts are handled by a W58 five-speed transmission using the stock shifter.
The engine was installed with custom motor mounts and a custom oil pan. The car was also converted to rack and pinion steering because the steering box was completely shot. The team sourced the RHD steering system from a European Daewoo.
