BMW E92 with a Mitsubishi 4G63

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Peter from SwapBlogRU recently traveled to Minsk, Belarus to talk to the builder about this wild creation. While there he found out the car started life as a 2008 BMW 335 with AWD and a 3.0 L twin-turbo N54 inline-six. Running on methanol the car best quarter-mile was 11.9 seconds. The owner wanted to go faster so they considered a single turbo conversion. But since the transmission wasn’t holding up well to the power they soon decided to go in a different direction.

The next idea was to install a Skyline R33 or R34 drivetrain in the BMW. But when considering how hard it would be to find those parts and the cost to buy them they decided the best direction would be to use Mitsubishi Lancer Evo components. Almost the entire front of the car is built from Evo parts. The turbocharged 4G63 engine, transmission, and transfer case is from an Evo 7. The front suspension and crossmember is from an Evo with Evo 9 coilovers and front brakes from an Evo 4. The BMW still runs the factory rear end and rear brakes. The builder estimates the engine is producing around 700-750+ horsepower running a Garrett GTX3582 turbocharger.

Watch as Peter talks to the builder about the car. Make sure to turn the subtitles/CC setting on to follow along.

I am sure we will be seeing a lot more of this car once it starts racing again.
