LeMons Honda N600 With A Saab 900 Drivetrain
You will find a lot of creative builds in LeMons racing. Part of the fun of the series is building a unique race car. Apathy Racing’s LeMons car is called the Saanda 1500 because it uses a Honda 600 body with a Saab 900 drivetrain.
The Honda N600 originally came with a 600 cc two-cylinder motorcycle engine that produced 36-46 horsepower. Apathy Racing replaced that with a 2.3 L turbocharged B234 inline-four from a Saab 900 Turbo that produced 200 horsepower.
Along with the engine switch the team also changed the engine layout. The Saab engine along with the factory transmission and axles was installed into the back of the car. Another change anyone can see is the wide fenders. Almost the entire tire is sitting outside the exterior of the factory body.
I am glad there are teams like Apathy Racing willing to swing for the fences building a wide-body Honda N600 with Swedish turbocharged power.
