1934 Mercury Pickup With A 1949 Mercury V8
It’s true they didn’t build a Mercury truck in the US but that didn’t stop Ricky Bobby’s Rod Shop in Manchester, Tennessee from building their version of one.
They started with a 1934 Ford cab and chopped it four inches. Then the hood and side panels were all custom made to fit. The aftermarket bed was shortened about 10 inches and had the Mercury tail gate installed on it. The body sits on a 1934 Ford frame sectioned two and half inches.
The engine is a 1949 Mercury flathead V8 with Eddie Meyer heads and Stromberg 97 carburetors. The transmission is a 1949 Mercury three-speed with overdrive.
The truck took the Good Guys Builder Choice award and is currently for sale.
