VW Type 3 Powered By A Twin-turbo 13B

Published in engineswapdepot.com

Aaron Roberts has experience using Mazda rotary power in Volkswagen vehicles. There are plenty of videos of his incredible 20B powered VW Bus doing wheel stands at the drag strip. So when Aaron wanted another project he went with what he knew. This time around he used a 1966 Volkswagen Type 3 notchback and an upgraded Mazda 13B from a Cosmo with two Garrett GT40 turbochargers. The transmission is a modified automatic transaxle from a second-generation Type 2. This car was built for drag racing so anything that wasn’t needed was discarded to save weight. Looking through the build thread you gain an appreciation at how much work is hidden in this little car.
