Nissan Z33 With A 2JZ
Mercury sells cars and aero kits in Japan and to promote their newest body kit for the Fairlady Z Z33 (350Z) they built a professional drift car for Formula Drift Japan. Since the drift circuit has turned into a horsepower war, the choice was made to swap out the factory V6 for Toyota’s bulletproof 2JZ. The 1,000 PS (986 horsepower) mark is made thanks to a Brian Crower 3.4 L stroker kit, billet crank, upgraded forged internals, and a Garrett GCX4088 turbocharger producing 2.0 bar (29 psi). The engine is backed up to a Holinger six-speed sequential transmission and OS Giken triple-place clutch. The article mentions a twin sister Fairlady Z with a similar 2JZ swap but built only for street use. I have included some photos of the Fairlady Z in base white paint to get a feeling of what the street version will look like.
