Wildest Engine Swap Sold at Scottsdale
This was the most unique engine swap I could find looking through the vehicle inventory. A 1939 Lincoln Zephyr powered by a 4.5L Ferrari V12 sold for just over $104K. Below is the description from Barrett-Jackson’s website.
Four years to build this original all-steel car nicknamed “Zephyrod.” This custom creation is powered by a V12 436hp Ferrari engine from a 456, Tremec-6 speed transmission and a Jaguar XKE rear end with independent rear suspension. The top has been chopped by 2 ½”, rear fenders were flared by 2″ on each side, the doors were flipped and made to be suicide style doors. The custom two tone paint was done to give it a sleek one-off Art Deco period-correct custom look. Some of the modern creature comforts are, tilt wheel, power steering, power leather seats, power windows, air conditioning, remote entry, Sony CD stereo system with hidden amplifiers and a custom instrument cluster. Additional features include flush front and rear windshields, Air Ride suspension, custom Xenon head lamps, carbon fiber air filter plenum, custom aluminum drive shaft, one-of-a-kind crystal tail lights, Wilwood racing-type disc brakes with tandem master cylinder, billet wheels and Toyo tires. Lastly, this car was built by Fernando Gomez, a multiple award winning classic car designer and builder. It was featured at the 2011 SEMA show in Las Vegas, NV and shown on several TV shows including Car Crazy and Gotcha Racing. One-of-a-kind masterpiece. From the Scott Thomas Collection.
