Toyota Corolla with a Turbo 1.0L Inline-Four
Antti Holtinkoski spent nine months building a Toyota Corolla (E110) for hill climb racing. In the engine bay he installed a turbocharged 998 cc 1SZ-FE inline-four. These motors are typically naturally aspirated and found in the first generation Yaris/Vitz/Echo making 51 kW (69 hp). Antti’s motor features a cast iron block with 69 mm bore and 66.7 mm stroke, block girdle, forged rods, VVTi head, and larger turbocharger. The combo produces 301 hp (221 kW) at 8831 rpm and 298 Nm (219 lb-ft) at 5883 rpm to the hubs on E85 fuel. It is paired to a Motor Design Sweden MD5 Ultralight five-speed sequential transmission with a modified bellhousing. From there power is sent to a Volvo 760/780 independent rear differential.
