Subaru Brat with an EA-82
This 1979 Subaru Brat was built by a machinist and welding professor from Oregon. It was sold when he moved to another state. Just about everything on this Brat is custom from the body, drivetrain, suspension, and even paint.
The engine is a rebuilt 1.8 L EA-82 flat-four from a 1982 Subaru XT. The engine features a Delta Performance camshafts, 1988 XT non-turbo manifold (flows better than the turbo version) and MSD coil ignition and fuel injection. The engine has also been upgraded with a intercooler, downpipe and turbo from a WRX. Controlled by MegaSquirt-II ECU and running on 15 psi of boost, the engine produces 170 horsepower.
Sitting behind the engine sits a five-speed manual transmission connected to an AWD system put together using Subaru two-piece driveshaft and custom CV shafts. To complement the extra power 1986 XT Turbo brakes and XT suspension was installed.
