The Good ‘Ol Days of Winston Cup

Does anyone else out there in Hemmings Nation miss the old days of NASCAR when it was interchangeably known as just “Winston Cup?” As of late, we’ve been talking about those halcyon days when drivers were giant personalities and their cars were, too. Matter of fact, imagine being able to distinguish, oh, say a Charger from a Torino on the track from across all the way out on Turn 3. Could you glimpse a Ford from a Dodge from 100 yards out in 2020? Well, look; at the risk of sounding like we’re just waxing nostalgic, we stumble across great old press photos like this one and have to stop ourselves from calling up the Family France and volunteering to start up an honest-to-Pete nostalgia series for whatever NASCAR is called these days. Would you get behind an idea like that? Might you be tempted to build and campaign a nostalgia Winston Cup car? Would you buy the t-shirt and the ball cap?
