This week, we turn to the subject of minibikes. Pit bikes. Hammy-hams. Scooters. Whatever you call them, they’re probably the second-most popular machine you’ll see at any dragstrip. Why? Well, run back and forth between the starting line and your pits twice and you’ll know how valuable they are to your good times at the track.
And some tracks have embraced the pit bike sub-subculture to the degree that they’ll take a break in the racing action to take it down a scale or three and host a pit bike drags. Now, racer DNA being what it is, it didn’t take long before pit bike races turned into full, wee drag bike competition and we can’t fault anyone for that evolution.
So, if you don’t have a minibike to throw into the bed of the truck as you’re loading up for track day, do yourself two favors: watch this video of some great, scaled-down fun at the track, then go get one, for yourself. You’re welcome, friend.
