Auction Alert: Bids to close on a 1912 Harley-Davidson 8A
1912 Harley-Davidson 8A “Silent Grey Fellow”
This vintage Harley illustrates the links between bicycle design and multi-cylinder motorcycles. “Silent Grey Fellow” is a restored 8A that is a two-time Motorcycle Cannonball participant. It was restored from 2008-2010 to maintain its original appearance as well as its riding experience. Powering this over-a-century-old Harley is a belt-drive 30-cu.in. single-cylinder engine. Sale will also include a spare engine, reproduction Eclipse clutch, rebuilt magneto, and spare belts. The paint is in good condition and dates back to the restoration while some minor scratches and dings are evident due to its frequent operation. An additional pair of 21-inch wheels will also be included with the sale. Bidding for this early Harley-Davidson is scheduled to conclude today at 4 p.m. eastern time.
