A pair of white convertibles will see the end of bidding on Hemmings auctions today. The first, a 1966 Ford Mustang convertible, features period-correct air conditioning for those days when the wind in your hair is just a little too warm. Later, the final bid on a 1969 Oldmobile 4-4-2 with the original engine will buy the car, as the reserve has already been met as of this writing. We can all agree that one of the best ways to enjoy a classic car is to get out and drive it. This 1966 Mustang convertible is ready to do exactly that, represented as mostly preserved in original specification with a few upgrades and updates over the years. The seller reports this car was restored under the previous owner and is still in good cosmetic condition with the mechanical pieces running smooth and ready for a cruise. Power comes from a 289 V-8 with the factory two-barrel carburetor swapped out for a four-barrel. The three-speed Ford C4 automatic transmission is said to change gears in both direction without trouble.

With only 4,295 convertibles built in 1969, the 4-4-2 offers some exclusivity compared to more popular cars of the era at reasonable prices. This car is described by the seller as driven regularly but still in good overall condition. The 350-horsepower, 400 V-8 was professionally rebuilt in 2013 and sits in an unrestored engine bay, connected to a three-speed automatic transmission. The paint is described as fair, believed to be original, with all of the exterior trim either rechromed or replaced with NOS parts. Blue racing stripes match the convertible top, with the theme continued in the all-blue interior. Reserve has been met on this auction, so the final bid will take the car home.
