If you haven’t been paying attention to Daniel Miller’s “Larger Than Life” docuseries on Big Willie Robinson for the Los Angeles Times, it’s worth diving into. Robinson, his wife Tomiko, and the Brotherhood of Street Racers were never unknowns either in the drag racing community or around Los Angeles, but Miller – via an ambitious mix of traditional reporting, community reporting, and mixed-media publishing – has pieced together the story of a couple determined to bring peace to riot-torn Los Angeles, the way Los Angeles gravitates to and consumes extraordinary characters like the Robinsons, and the legacy Big Willie and Tomiko left behind.

Start with the video below and explore plenty more of the series – including vintage in-person interviews with Robinson and even his very own theme song – at LATimes.com.
