WATCH THIS: Lions Dragstrip…all over again!

If you’re here, you’re probably into muscle cars. If you’re into vintage muscle cars, you’re probably a drag racing fan. And if you dig the Digs, you probably have a soft-spot for vintage dragsters, just like us. But, along with that disorder comes the realization that we’ve lost far too many of the dragstrips that made these cars not only possible, but such an important part of our lives. So, when we heard whispers that the legendary and long-gone Lions Dragstrip in Southern California was going to be eulogized with a brand-new museum dedicated to it, well, kids, we held our breath and didn’t breathe a word of it, for fear of jinxing the whole thing.

Thank the Gods Of Speed we were dead-wrong. Last weekend, the Lions Dragstrip Museum opened in Rancho Dominguez, California and all we can say is, “Wish we coulda been there!” Luckily, there are a scant few videos of the ribbon-cutting ceremony and we think we found the best one to share with you. We recognized Bruce Meyer, Steve Gibbs, “TV Tommy” Ivo, Rick Lorenzen, Shige from Mooneyes and a few others who’ve kept the vintage drag racing flame lit and, really, isn’t that what it’s all about for folks like us? We not only gotta keep this stuff around, but we have to present it in a way that keeps the kids interested. Now, if we could just get the keys to the “Pure Hell” Fuel/Altered from Rich Guasco…
