Well maintained 1979 Chevrolet Malibu for sale on Hemmings.com. From the seller’s description:
The vehicle was puchased new in Chester NY, and lived there it’s whole life. The original owners – Joe and Lina – bought the car new in 1978. In 1983 it was sold to a family friend who meticulously maintained and cared for it as a hobby car with his sons.
The car has been thoroughly gone through, is honest and straight. The body is clean and there are no dents or even dings to speak of. There is some light chipping and nicks in the paint work, mostly around the edges of the doors and windows. It looks phenomenal at 10 feet, and up close is an 8/10. The interior is in good condition. The seats are not abused, ripped, or worn. There is a split inthe top of the dash pad near the center mount speaker. The indicator lights lenses are missing – after the clock stopped working in the late 70’s the car was returned to the dealer who dismantled the dash and found the clock needed to be replaced. The faulty clock was removed and the dash was reinstalled with the anticipation that the owners could drive the car and return when the new clock came in. The new clock is here, NOS in a box – but was never installed. I assume the colored lenses were left upon a workbench back at Chevy sometime in 1979! The car drives great, tracks straight, and feels really solid as it rolls down the road. The 305 was rebuilt and a slightly more aggressive cam was installed which really gives the car a nice top end. The transmission was rebuilt by the previous owner with all the bushings and rubber having been replaced. It shifts smooth as the day is long. The underbody has all been coated with POR15 and looks great, it is clean and there is no rust, rot, or flaking pieces. This is a time-capsule of a car. She is truly remarkable and was a pleasure to drive.
