Hemmings Find of the Day – 1972 Citroen HY camper

Published in

From the seller’s description:

1972 HY dual fuel Camper. This has got to be the ultimate H van! Stretched and raised. I purchased the vehicle with the intention of stripping out the camper shell and converting it to a food truck. On closer inspection I just could not bring myself to do that, she is so beautifully constructed. A brief history: The van was stretched when new and used by a furniture delivery company for 7 years. The second and last owner was a professional Citroen trained mechanic. He did the camper conversion and raised the roof section in the rear. His attention to detail is amazing, and the van has been impeccably maintained all this time. Rust proofing was applied regularly, the paint is sharp, end mechanically she is flawless. Because he and his wife took her on long distance camping trips around Europe, she has a variety of H.D. upgrades in the engine compartment such as a larger radiator, high output alternator, double battery set-up etc. Further, this is a dual fuel vehicle. She is set up to run on gasoline or propane. The latter can be a help if you live in an area with strict emission rules for antique vehicles such as California. Brakes, tires, steering, engine, transmission, clutch, are all in great shape. 80 km/h all day long. Much original documentation comes with the vehicle.
