Anybody unlucky enough to get a noise ticket from the city of Royal Oak during this month’s Woodward Dream Cruise is getting a reprieve thanks to one lawyer’s work, according to the Detroit Free Press.

* Pure Detroit’s legal tours of the under-restoration Packard plant in Detroit, as Crain’s Detroit reported this month, have met with positive reviews.

* Not too many — if any — drag racers can claim to have remained in the sport since 1951, but Idaho’s Larry Hale has, according to a recent Idaho Statesman profile of the 82-year-old.

* Australian truck driver Lady John’s family is looking for a Mack B series to participate in an upcoming celebration of her life.

* It’s easy to get great footage from the Bonneville Salt Flats, but it’s also easy to get land-speed racing there wrong. Fortunately, Vita Brevis Films’ “The Last Peaceful Place on Earth” manages to do the former and not the latter.

* Bonus video this week: diskojoe alerted us to Tim Curry’s singing career highlight from 1979, when he cut the music video for “Paradise Garage” entirely in a garage.
