Hemmings Find of the Day – 1989 Chevrolet Caprice

Published in

Ex-CHP 1989 Chevrolet Caprice for sale on From the seller’s description:

True California Highway Patrol Car and has been professionally restored to original condition as when on patrol in CA… Clean/Clear CA Title, in my name states “prior Police” The car is in excellent condition, starts, runs, drives great with no rust or body damage anywhere on the car. The car is located in Sacramento, CA area if you’d like to see it, drive it or have it inspected. There are 2 minor issues with the car that I am aware of; 1) The rubber fillers between the bumpers and body are a bit brittle and some cracking, (due to age/weather). 2) The, (police) radio is inoperative at this time. All other sirens, radar & lights, (including “wig wags” on headlights) are in operating condition…

This 1989 California Highway Patrol Cruiser is extremely rare as a retired police cruiser offered in this state with functioning lights, radio, radar and sirens – as well as the legendary CHP livery. The easily recognizable, classic 80s Chevrolet Caprice V-8 sedan is the platform on which the car is built. The Caprice is in great shape both inside and out with relatively low mileage for a former active patrol car. There are covers for the red & blue lights and magnetic covers, (to hide the CHP logos) to be able to legally drive the car short distances to car shows, etc.
