Hemmings Find of the Day – 1991 BMW M3 convertible

Published in

Meticulously maintained 1991 BMW M3 convertible for sale on From the seller’s description:

Selling my beloved ’91 BMW M3 Cabriolet that i have owned since 2008. I am only the third owner; I purchased and imported the vehicle from Europe from another BMW enthusiast. I personally have continuously owned BMW’s since the ’70’s when I was a teen. This is the third M car that I have owned in addition to 2002’s and 635CSI’s. I was picky when I came to purchase this vehicle.

As you can tell by the pictures, the car is in absolutely excellent shape inside and out. The car only ventures out on dry days and is normally never driven in the rain with the exception of being caught in a shower on a road trip once. The paint is almost all original with the exception of a respray on the driver’s door for a keying incident as reported by the previous owner. The total kilometers is currently at 114,287 or 71,400 miles.

After I purchased the car, I fixed all the known minor issues including:

Recharged the AC system with R134
Resealed the transmission and tightened the shifter
Replaced the sticky radio antenna
Install the orginal Blaupunct radio
Refinished the wheels to new condition
Replaced the spark plug harness with an original red tipped BMW harness for the BMW M3 Sport Evo
Recently refinished the cam cover with crinkled black power coat

The car is all original with the exception of the DTM style stainless steel rear exhaust muffler. It came this way from the previous owner and I have not bothered to replace it with an original exhaust.

The car comes with a factory hard-top (not shown) and a factory wind screen as shown.
