Hemmings Find of the Day – 1956 Fargo Power Wagon

Published in

Former explosives hauler 1956 Fargo Power Wagon for sale on From the seller’s description:

This fine example of a Power Wagon features all the good stuff. Like: front tow hooks, a rear pintle hook, a PTO, and an original Braden Winch. It’s a very hard working truck and started life as a explosives hauler in Northern Ontario. After that it was re-purposed as a welding truck, also in Northern Ontario.

It features a 230 cubic-inch flathead inline-six engine, a two-speed transfer case, a 4-speed manual transmission with a Power Take Off (PTO) which would send power front or rear for operating auxiliary equipment. (i.e winch)

We performed a complete brake service, front / rear + master cyl. We also installed new tires (including spare) and front locking hubs. The interior bench seat was re-upholstered with a thick durable black vinyl like material. The engine has a stamp stating that it has been re-manufactured by Chrysler themselves. However, we are unable to verify when it was remanufactured -as the Chyrsler plant that originally rebuilt it no longer offers the service. This being said, the truck starts first time, everytime – (with the correct procedure). Transmission shifts as it should and the winch is fully functional.

The notable flaws would be a cracked headliner, cracked passenger quarter window glass and missing passenger wiper, also the crank to open the windshield is not present.

Despite the look of the exterior of the truck, it is actually very solid with no rot. The patina is just perfect in our opinion.

The truck is currently plated and on the road in Ontario Canada.
