Midweek Matinee: Free Air, 1937

It’s a Jam Handy film, so you know the first few minutes are just a setup — but we do so enjoy their creative spins on more mundane subject matters. So maybe it has something to do with salt water.


Or setting things on fire: Always a popular topic of discussion around here.


Maybe growing better roses by spraying copious amounts of pesticides?


It also involves two technicians, plus one big caged balloon mounted to the hood of a 1937 Chevrolet Sport Sedan.


And they eventually drive off into the sunset, sans cage. We do appreciate a happy ending.
