Older resto, probably needs a little cosmetic work, but this 1968 Ford Galaxie XL fastback for sale on Hemmings.com still looks sharp in photos and the Q-code 340 hp 428 – the largest engine available in the full-size cars that year – as well as a raft of documentation and a snappy black bucket seat interior to go with that Sunlit Gold paint certainly doesn’t hurt its standing. From the seller’s description:
equipped with the GT package, 428 4v (Q code) engine, C6 automatic trans, bucket seat/console interior, and 9″ rear with 3.25 limited slip gearing. There is a Marti Report on this vehicle which confirms that this car left the factory with these highly desirable and rare options. This original Q code GT has been a california car its whole life. The car was treated to a profesional restoration some years ago, and then was used sparingly before being stored for many years. Given the age of this restoration, the car is exceptional, however the rear bumper, while presentable, should be re chromed. The front bumper and the rest of the bright work are presentable, if not perfect. There are less than 40,000 original miles on the car. The paint and body work is excellent with no noticeable flaws. The car is very straight and the paint is finished really nice. The Bucket seat/console interior is also in very nice shape. The seats are supple and confortable and don’t have any irregular wear/sagging. There is no rust, or evidence of rust repair on this car. The undercarriage is not freshly detailed, but is fairly clean, and most importantly, rust free. This car operates as it should with no mechanical issues. Lighting and electrical systems all work properly. The vaccuum opperated accessories all work as they should, including the hide away headlight doors. Windows and glass are all in perfect conditon and roll up and down freely.
