Hemmings Find of the Day – 1969 Ford Galaxie

Published in

Four-doors aren’t the only cars from the Sixties that enthusiasts and collectors often overlook: Some full-sizes tend to get the short shrift too. Take, for instance, this 1969 Ford Galaxie two-door formal hardtop for sale on If it were a four-barrel car, a convertible, an XL, or perhaps a SportsRoof, it might have been treated to a restoration or refurbishment by now, but as it sits it’s likely only made it this long as an occasional driver because it still runs and because the California climate has kept it from rusting. From the seller’s description:

390 c.i., 2bbl, single exhaust, A/T, P/S, P/B, A/C, 2dr with black vinyl top. I am the second owner of this car and purchased it 2 years ago. The original owner kept it garaged for the entire time he had it. I have been using this as a weekly driver and have not performed any maintenance to it other than oil and filter change plus a new battery. The vinyl top is original and in excellent condition. The paint is original and in good condition. It has typical exterior and interior wear for a car of this age. The interior seat material is starting to go a you can see from the photos. The A/C unit does not have a belt to drive it therefore I cannot tell you if it is in working order. The rest of the car works very, very well. The title is clear and has always been in California. I have the title in hand. The odometer reads 33,000 + so I figure it has got to have 133,000 + on it.
