Hemmings Sunday Cinema – Electrovair II, One Up on the Devil, Action U.S.A.

Published in blog.hemmings.com

The Corvair’s air-cooled flat-six engine kind of defined the compact car, but at least a couple times Chevrolet looked into the possibility of replacing it with a battery-electric drive system. The latter of those two experiments came in 1966 and resulted in the Electrovair II and this GM-produced video showing the Electrovair in action on the streets around GM’s Tech Center. (via)

* The Race of Gentlemen has generated no shortage of photos, writeups, and video, but little of the coverage of it has actually captured the action the way Nick Ray McCann’s “One Up on the Devil” has.

* Finally, the award for the most ridiculously scripted, acted, directed, and produced car chase scene probably should go to “Action U.S.A.” from 1988. Sorry about your house, indeed.
