Daily Briefing: A 750-hp rental Camaro, Frankfurt auto show attendance drops

Published in

You can rent a 750-hp Hendrick Motorsports Chevy Camaro ZL1 from Hertz

Would you like to upgrade your rental to a sweet burnout machine? Hertz and Hendrick Motorsports partnered up for a pair of special-edition Chevrolet Camaros you can only get at the rental counter. If a 750-horsepower Camaro ZL1 is a little too much, you can also rent a Camaro SS with 480 hp. The ZL1 is up 100 hp over stock thanks mostly to a new supercharger supplied by Callaway, and the SS is bumped up 25 horsepower from a cold air intake and cat-back exhaust. Both will be available in select cities this fall at $299 a day for the ZL1 and $99 a day for the SS. Read more at the Detroit News or jump straight over to the Hertz website.

Frankfurt Motor Show attendance plunges, putting show’s future in question

The Frankfurt Motor Show was once one of the most significant auto shows on the calendar, a massive event spanning several exhibit halls where European automakers would try to one-up each other with important model reveals housed in over-the-top displays. Held every other year (alternating with the Paris Motor Show), the 2019 edition concluded last weekend with attendance down a third. With the show’s future in doubt amid a global trend of declining auto show attendance, it could change venues to Berlin for 2021, Automotive News reports.
