Volkswagen’s futuristic ID.R electric race car set a record earlier this June in Germany, becoming the fastest all-electric car to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife. At six minutes and five seconds, the Volkswagen’s time undercut the previous record by more than 40 seconds.

While setting the new electric record, driver Romain Dumas and the ID.R also beat every gasoline-powered record on the track except for one, the Porsche 919 Hybrid EVO driven by Timo Bernhard.

Dumas averaged 127.36 miles per hour around the 12.9 mile course and says the ID.R was “perfectly prepared for the Nordschleife” and that he is “unbelievably proud” to be a Nürburgring record holder.

The Wings and Wheels Fly-in and Car Show invites vintage cars, motorcycles and airplanes of all makes and models to fly or drive to the 13th annual show at the Grimes airport. All pre-1977 vehicles are invited, though this year the show will focus on vehicles of the WWI era.

Visitors can even expect to see tractors, and will get the chance to ride in biplanes. A vintage marketplace will have parts and memorabilia available for sale. A swing band will provide entertainment for the day and attendees can get breakfast, lunch and dinner on site.

Wings and Wheels will take place on Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14 in Bethel, Pennsylvania. For more information, visit
