With 760 horsepower and 625 lb. ft. of torque, the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 will be the most powerful street-legal Ford ever.
Clearly gunning for the 717 horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, the new car offers a 98 horsepower increase over the last GT500. Ford also claims that the new mill is the most “power- and torque-dense supercharged production V-8 engine in the world.” The supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 produces more power than the base model Challenger Hellcat, but is bested by the 797 horsepower and 840 horsepower Redeye and Demon trim levels of the Challenger.
The Mustang Shelby GT500 will go on sale in 2020 after the GT350 goes on sale this fall.
