Restomod 1955 Ford Thunderbird for sale on From the seller’s description:

This very unique build was rendered by Eric Brockmeyer.

It is a real 1955 Ford Thunderbird that has been mated to a 427 cobra to create “Thumdersnake”.

I inherited this car from my brother who passed away in December. Before he passed he gave me as much information about his car that he could remember and all the paperwork that he could find. I am sure that he forgot some. He purchased this car in 1970 and it has been thru many changes over the years he has had it. This last transformation started in May of 2007 and was completed in May of 2008.

So here is as much information that I have:

The chassis was custom built by Progressive Automotive in Baltimore, Ohio. It started as a 1955 T-Bird frame modified to fit a C4 front and rear Corvette suspension. The rear has been narrowd 4″ and has a 3.73 gear with Aldan coil overs. It has a Quickor custom make 1″ front sway bar and a splined rear sway bar.

The front spindles are C4 Corvette and the steering is a 1989 Thunderbird power rack and pinion. Front suspension has Aldan Eagle coil overs.

Front brakes are Baer 13″ Corvette 4 piston.

Rear Brakes 12″ corvette C4.

Front wheels are American Racing Cobra 17″ x 9″ : rears are same but 17″ x 11″.

Front tires are Goodyear F1 275/40 x 17 ; rears are same but 315/35 x 17.

The engine is a 1965 Ford FE side oiler 427 +.030 over with TRW pistons 10:1 compression ratio. The cam is a Crane Hydraulic Blazer. It has a Mallory Unilite distributor with a flat cap and Fireball coil. The headers were custom made and coated by Jet Hot Coatings. The polished stainless steel side pipes are a product of Stainless Specialities. The heads are Edelbrock aluminum as ia the aluminum water pump. The intake is a “Blue Thunder” dual quad. The Carburetors are dual 600 cfm Holley with chrome fuel bowels which were detailed and rebuilt by the Holley Shop. It has a Melling oil pump, Mocal oil cooler and an 8 quart Canton road race oil pan. The engine was built by Jegs of Columbus, Ohio and I have the Tech Sheet from them dated Sept 1981.

The transmission is a Borg Warner Super T-10 with a hurst shifter. A Ford OEM cobra style shift lever is attached to the Hurst to give more of that Cobra look.

Extensive body work was performed by Sweitzer Performance of Bucyrus, Ohio.

Custom make flares were were fitted to the body as well as Cobra front fender louvers. Flush mounted Cobra emblems front and rear and a Cobra hood scoop were also added. To give it the over the top look and feel; windscreens (patterened after the Callaway C-16 Corvette Speedster) were added. The open grill with showing fans and cooler are pure Cobra. the blue with white paint scheme is carried thru everywhere, even over the license plate.

The seats are Recaro buckets that have been redone in black leather with bright blue stitching. Blue Cobras were embroidered in the headrest and in the trunk panel. G-Force four point racing harness were installed for the driver and passenger. behind the seats are storage for two matching full face helmets.

It has a flaming river tilt column and a LeCarra Cobra Wood steering wheel.

The dash is pretty much stock 1955 T-Bird with some added guages. Even the Tach is Cobra.

The custom stainless steel roll hoops again are the pure Cobra look.

The driveshaft is aluminum made by Dennys Driveshafts.

The gas tank is custom made polished stainmless steel.
