Hemmings Find of the Day – 1972 Buick Estate Wagon

Published in

From the seller’s description:

1972 Buick Estate Wagon, Sandlewood Beige, 53,762 miles, Brown Leather Interior, 3rd row seat and clamshell rear hatch. Original car with a great history and completey ready to go.

I am selling my wagon because I am both runnin out of space and have some projects on my home that I would like to get done. I have a few cars, mostly older Japanese models, but I always have liked these old wagons and have had a few over the years, this one is by far the most unique. It does not have the rear facing seat that most people seek out, but it does have the rear seat with a much more rare rear clam shell hatch where the glass and hatch retract into the roof and floor of the car.

The exterior of the wagon has been cared for well over the course of its life and I have had to nothing more that give it a thorough buffing and detail. The glass, stainless, and trim are all in impecable condition and needs nothing. The interior falls much in the same category, with no tears, stress marks, warping, or obvious wear.

Mechanically, I have kept all of the fluids up to date and had to replace the actuator switch in the dash for the clam shell hatch when I first got it. It has now worked for years as it should with no issues. I would drive this wagon across the country without hesitation.
