Hemmings Find of the Day – 1977 AMC Pacer D/L

Published in

Once-repainted 1977 AMC Pacer D/L for sale on From the seller’s description:

This 1977 AMC Pacer D/L sedan spent it’s first 42 years in Orlando, FL. This car was purchased in December 2017 in Orlando, FL and brought to Michigan at that time. I also have the original bill-of-sale that shows this Pacer was purchased new on 3-3-1977 by a gentleman who was living in Monte Carlo, Monaco, but who was apparently moving to the United States for employment as an engineer. I have the original window sticker which shows the selling dealer was Reed Motors, Inc. of Orlando, FL and the car was priced at $5,525.00. The D/L package included individual reclining bucket seats in basketry fabric, custom door trim/pull straps, high level (dash) vents, extra quiet insulation, d/n mirror, dual horns, bumper (rubber) nerfing strips, D/L badging, light group, bright exterior mouldings & wood grain insrument panel. In addition this car came with the 258 CID six, 2 barrel; automatic transmission with floor shift; 7D/00 Powder Blue; individual seat fabric trim T-723J; a/c with tinted glass; power steering; front power disc brakes; roof rack; center console (not currently mounted in car); and bumper guards front & rear, Also included is the original EPA sticker, 1977 AMC Buyers Protection Plan booklet and much more including a number of repair receipts over the years that confirm this car was always in Orlando, FL and that the miles are accurate (63,000). It is totally rust free! In the last 6 months here is what has been done to this car: 5 mag type wheels were acquired along with 5 new 205/70-14 BFG Radial TA tires; rebuilt and adjusted the carburator; replaced spark plugs; replaced the motor mounts; replaced the intake manifold gasket; replaced a radiator hose; replaced an exhaust hanger; replaced the front shocks and an oil change. As this car was not sold originally with a radio, an OEM am radio, dash speaker and antenna has been installed. The driver’s seat has a couple of small imperfections (the fabric on the passenger and rear seat are perfect) and as this exact material is no longer available, I have ordered a set of custom (for a Pacer) clear plastic seat covers for both front bucket seats (as of the placing of this ad I’ve paid for them but not received them and thus they are yet to be installed, but are included with the car. This car has been repainted once in it’s lifetime (I assume the paint was faded having spent it’s life in the Florida sun) and shows no signs of any accident damage. It looks great, inside and out. In addition, the car runs and drives as it should. This is a very unique Pacer, not only only because it is totally rust free and low miles, but because of it’s history and all the documentation that goes with it. If you are looking for a nice Pacer that you do not have to restore, this could be the one for you.
